The problem: On the construction of a multi-building high school
project, the contractor experienced a cost overrun of 20% of the contract
amount. Counsel for our client engaged Torone Consulting to evaluate the
extent to which problematic drawings caused the overrun.
Our analysis: We identified and analyzed errors and omissions on the
project. We quantified the extent to which the prime contractor and its subs
were damaged due to these issues. We also performed a time impact analysis to
quantify the extent to which each party was responsible for delays.
The resolution: With an impending trial date only two weeks away, we
presented our findings in a mediation which proved successful in settling the
case to the satisfaction of our client and to all parties.
